Sending Digital Image Files to Gastown Photo Via FTP
You can use our FTP site as a place to transfer your image file(s) for printing or other services
To use our FTP site you will need to use a program like Fetch 5.1 (for Macintosh)
or FileZilla (free) or Bulletproof for Windows.
Before connecting to the site, create a folder on your computer and name it after yourself.
Place the file or files to be uploaded in this folder.
Upload your folder containing your pictures and printing specifications text file.
The host name in your ftp program is gastown.serveftp.net
Username: guest Password: welcome
We RECOMMEND choosing Passive (PASV) mode when FTP'ing only if you have a firewall
or any device doing Network Address Translation (NAT) such as Linksys, SMC, etc.
Use a program such as WinZip when uploading large images.
This will help reduce the file size and the time required to upload.
If you are sending .tif files, Do NOT use LZW compression.
Please include a text file in the folder along with the following information:
Method of Payment if order is to be shipped. (open account, credit card, company cheque)
Pick-up or delivery instructions. Shipping address required for delivery. Shipping fee is extra.
Your name, contact phone number, and e-mail address.
Order instructions - Service/products required? Completion date and time?
Please confirm all "RUSH" orders with Customer Service first. "RUSH" charges may apply.
A list of the files per order you are uploading.
Do NOT include credit card number or non-secure credit information.
We will contact you by email or phone for this information.
We require this text file to enter your order into our system and to allow easy retrieval of the order. Incomplete instructions and/or information may result in errors and delays in processing your order. Gastown Photo is not responsible for any errors or delays due to incorrect or insufficient information.
IMPORTANT: You must call us at 604-608-2728, and let us know you have sent your image file folder. We will confirm the folder upload and contact you in case the file transfer does not go through successfully. You should email smile@gastownphoto.com with instructions and billing information after your files are uploaded. After your file(s) are finished being sent, close the connection to the FTP site.
Private Drop Box FOLDER
You may sign up for a private Drop Box Folder.
Contact us so that we can set you up with your own private account.
Once your private account is set up, you can login via FTP program to access your folder.
It is perfect for digital camera files and Adobe Photoshop image files ready for printing on our AGFA d-lab.3
If you have forgotten your password, submit your username contact us and your password will be emailed to the address you submitted when you signed up.
Sending Digital Image Files to Gastown Photo Via Email:
Email to smile@gastownphoto.com
Send only small files (1mb or less) via e-mail.
Include the same order contact information/order instructions/payment information as above for FTP.
Please do NOT email files larger than 1mb.
For large files - use our FTP service above.

Our internet Drop Box sends us your order requests when you select an image to order, so no further communication should be necessary. You will receive an automated response from smile@gastownphoto.com that your order was emailed to us for entry on the next business day.
